I’ve been in Alice for two days now, and I’m pretty sure that I have seen pretty much everything ion the town.
Yesterday (I believe it was sunday) I spent chilling out, sitting with my feet in the very cold swimming pool and reading my book. I also wandered around town for a bit and bought some food. I spent the evening in the bar with some of the people from my room.
Today the weather was substantially chillier than it has been the past few days (ie, I had to wear jeans and a jumper during the day!) but I’ve done a fair bit. This morning I walked to Anzac hill, which is on the north side of the town, and has some good views over Alice, although Alice isn’t really much to look at, but the mountain ranges surrounding it are pretty nice.

There is also a monument at the top of the hill commemorating all the soldiers (known as diggers) who died in the world wars.
I then headed back to the hostel for lunch, via the shops to buy myself a hat, so now I can rival Olie in how cool my hat is!
After lunch I went back into town and went to the Alice Springs gaol, which has been converted into the national pioneer womens hall of fame. It recognises the first white women who lived and worked in the outback, and the life they lead. It also had a display on other Australian women pioneers in field such as sport, aviation and law amongst others.
Afterwards I went to the reptile house, where I saw heaps of Australian reptiles, along with Terry the saltwater crocodile, who was alseep. There was also a show where they got some of the snakes and lizards out, but it was really busy where it was the school holidays. After the reptiles I went to the flying doctors cafe for hot chocolate and cake before heading back to the hostel.
Tomorrow I’m heading up to Darwin on a tour, which will last 2 nights and 3 days.
I’ve also managed to get photos from the last week up on facebook.
